‘SARGANTANA’ PUBLISHING HOUSE CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY SURROUNDED BY AUTHORS, READERS, AND FRIENDS OF THE BOOK WORLD IN VALENCIA

Around two hundred people—authors, booksellers, journalists, institutional representatives, and book lovers—gathered at the La Petxina Cultural Sports Complex to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Sargantana Publishing House, a Valencian publishing house that, in just a decade, has established itself as a benchmark in the cultural and literary scene of the Valencian Community.

The meeting, full of emotion and gratitude, was attended by Maribel Sáez, Director General of Commerce, Crafts, and Consumption of the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government), and José Luis Moreno, Councillor for Cultural Action, Heritage, and Cultural Resources of the Valencia City Council, as well as numerous representatives of the publishing sector, presidents of associations, booksellers, business owners, journalists, and readers. A Decade of Effort and Growth The evening’s hosts, Paz Navarro, Quique Olmos, and the entire publishing team, reviewed the milestones of these ten years, marked by perseverance, loyalty to values, and a commitment to local talent.

Navarro recalled the project’s beginnings with humour and emotion: “We started alone, from a bedroom at home, laying out, designing, editing, and selling. We still have the list of our first clients on the wall, when distributors refused to open accounts for us. Those now yellowing papers remind us every day of where we came from.”

The CEO also emphasized the importance of perseverance in a complex business environment: “Only 10% of companies survive ten years. That’s why today we want to be proud of having made a cultural project this far and become the leading Valencian publishing house.”

For his part, Quique Olmos recalled the publishing house’s first slogans, a symbol of its evolution and its reach beyond the borders of Valencia: “At first, we used a slogan we loved: ‘Local writers for universal readers.’ But we grew, and today our slogan is ‘Words that touch, books that leave a mark.’ We want each book to be an experience, not only for its content, but also for its edition and finish.”

Figures that speak for themselves During their presentation, Olmos and Navarro shared some data that reflect the growth of Grupo Editorial Sargantana: • 9 active publishing labels. • 12 families dedicated to the project. • More than 2,000 titles published in print and digital formats.
