A FIERY SHOW OF PASSION, EMOTION, AND ART AT ‘TANGO EN TIEMPO DE MUJER’ (PHOTOGRAPHIC REPORT)

Taking the stage for “Tango en Tiempo de Mujer” (tango in women’s time) at ‘Teatre Talia’ on March 10 were top-notch tango dancers who stunned the crowd. It was the show of a lifetime as the theatre celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ by bringing a unique Tango musical show to the stage. A renewed and exciting version of previous years’ performances, this past Monday (10 March) was a visual and sound experience paying tribute to the many women who have left their mark on tango throughout the years. The show offered   a contemporary and fresh look at the intricate depths of the tango style.

With new staging and musical arrangements, the music, singing, poetry, and dance intertwined to captivate the audience with the sensitivity and strength of women in tango. Passionate interpretations highlighted the legacy of the composers who brought to life the stories of love, struggle, and hope.

It was a step back in time in the best of senses. The show honoured traditional tangos such as Malena or Nostalgias to ensure that tradition was not lost in this ever-changing field of dance. The work of great poets such as Alfonsina Storni, Alejandra Pizarnik, Eladia Blázquez, and María Elena Walsh connected older generations with more current compositions such as contemporary tango lyrics by Marta Pizzo, and pieces by the director and pianist of the masterpiece show, Juan Esteban Cuacci.

The spectacular show invited audience members to join in, travelling through the different experiences of women. It was an unforgettable celebration of the importance of women in art and culture.

Traditional and contemporary tango combined to leave a lasting impression as music and art intertwined to encapsulate women’s experiences. Teatre Talia successfully produced a show that was not only visually appealing, but also a masterpiece of authentic music and impressive dance.

At Teatre Talia, the queue was out the door with spectators awaiting the upcoming production. The performance lasted roughly 90 minutes, and was filled with stunning visuals, music, and passion from the actors. A dramatic storyline unfolded throughout the duration of the show and captivated the attention of all in attendance
