On Monday, March 9th, ‘Teatre Talia’ will host an international showcase of Argentine Tango, a night which will bring light to the history of tango in which women have consistently held the leading role. Presented by the Berretin company, this display will be a continuation of the ‘Les Dones i el Tango’ cycle, now in its tenth year. If you are looking to learn more about Latino culture, ‘Tango en Tiempo de Mujer’ is an incredible opportunity to do exactly that. The arrangement guides you through low-income and high-class realities of Buenos Aires and emphasizes the major role that women have played in its history.
‘Tango en Tiempo de Mujer’ encapsulates the strength and resiliency of women through a strong cast and musical score. From the hearts of musical artist Amalia Bueti, Argentine pianist Juan Esteban Cuacci, and support from cellist Estrella Guerrero, the show will find emotional resonance in everyone.
The sound of the evening honours the Rioplatense genre of music through Juan Esteban Cuacci’s original composition and other works. The piece recalls important and historic figures and pays recognition to Eladia Blázquez, Alfonsina Storni, and Malena.
But what is tango without dancing? Of course the night will be complete with a group of expert dancers, Rebeca Núñez, Melina Greco, Bárbara Palmer, and John Arbeláez. Through careful practice in rhythm and movement, these performers bring poetry alive on stage and paint the story of past and present in our minds.
Tickets are now on sale through the theatre online box office linked below.
