##”Welcome to Bombas Gens, a unique centre with art, history, heritage and solidarity”.
This will be the beginning of a magical and emotional story that several specialized guides will offer visitors in the more than 6. 500 m2 occupied by the modernist building and in which they will visit the medieval farmhouses and its 15th century cellar, experience what the workers of the old factory felt as they took refuge from the bombs of the Civil War, get to know the exhibitions of the art centre without forgetting every detail of the rehabilitation of a unique and essential building and refresh themselves in a wild Mediterranean garden with more than a hundred species and an installation full of life, by Cristina Iglesias.
“Our visitors left full of unanswered questions, perhaps because we showed each space in isolation,” explains general manager Juan José de Torres.
Starting this week, the new guided tours will be inaugurated in morning and afternoon shifts, by reservation at the centre itself, although from August onwards they can be booked through the Bombas Gens website or the Fundació Per Amor a l’Art (Foundation for Love of Art). This is a global tour of the former hydraulic pump factory that the architect Cayetano Borso di Carminati designed in 1930 in Valencia. It was restored and expanded after almost two years by the team of architects formed by Annabelle Selldorf, Eduardo de Miguel, and Ramón Esteve, who respected the memory of the place that is now the headquarters of the Fundació Per Amor a l’Art (FPAA).
“Bombas Gens is a project in which art is the skin, but there is also heart and soul because it is part of a larger project, the Fundació Per Amor a l’Art,” explains its vice president Susana Lloret who adds, “A foundation that my husband and I started in 2014 with the idea of sharing and raising awareness in each of the areas in which we work: research in rare diseases; care for vulnerable people and, of course, art and culture. So with these visits we will get people, besides enjoying their time here, to understand the whole project well.”
The Oficina de Mecenatge de la Generalitat Valenciana has declared Bombas Gens a “Project of Social Interest”.
The FPAA inaugurated its new headquarters on July 7, 2017 and recovered its historical melting pot, from the Middle Ages to the present day. It is time for all Valencians and visitors to know and enjoy La Antigua Fábrica Bombas Gens and do so with all its stories to be shared.
