You are here: Home / food and drink / Bartínez, the new bar in the centre of Valencia for great tapas!
The centrally located establishment, located at 3 Av. Mª Cristina, offers local produce from the Central Market, with a clear focus on bar and terrace service. The small portions and the ever-changing wine list are the stars of the non-stop kitchen, seven days a week. A place to eat and drink quickly, with quality food at any time. And with a moderate price tag, affordable for all budgets. Located in the heart of Valencia, Bartínez was born as a bar with the essence of the traditional bar. The establishment is small, yet very cosy, and is located at 3 Avenida María Cristina, between the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Plaza del Mercado, where it boasts a terrace. From now on, it’s the perfect meeting point in the city centre for tapas and snacks at any time of day, always accompanied by vermouth and the classic draft beer. At a time when it’s hard to find places in the city centre that welcome locals as well as visitors, Bartínez takes great care with quality and value, and is an ideal space to share traditional recipes.
Bartínez’s recipe book replicates that simple and straightforward essence: traditional tapas and ‘raciones’, for a snack between meals, whether during work hours or during a more relaxed day. Not surprisingly, the restaurant is open seven days a week. The produce is top-quality, much of it sourced from the Mercat Central, located just a few metres from the establishment. And speaking of a trendy snack, one of the establishment’s essential touches is its ‘gildas’, which come in different varieties: you can try the anchovy gilda, the whitebait gilda, or the gilda of the day, which will vary each day to surprise regular diners.
Meatballs in sauce are one of the tavern’s must-try dishes.
On the other hand, classics such as bravas, Andalusian-style squid, Russian salad, and Iberian ham croquettes stand out, highlighting the classic recipe book. The bar also boasts its meatballs in sauce recipe, which can be accompanied by bread with Verde Esmeralda oil. And, of course, its chorizo, loin, and D.O. Jabugo ham platters are worth highlighting, a tour of the best of the country’s gastronomy. In short, a sure bet for a quick meal with top-quality products.
“Our goal is to offer a quality product at any time and take care of our own needs: both local and national. The menu is simple, and the dishes don’t require such complex preparation. This is precisely why we stand out from other establishments. At Bartínez, you can come for an aperitif or a meal without having to spend as much time as a more typical meal,” explains Carlos Olivella, the tavern’s partner.
Specifically, the new tavern aims to emphasize the product and thus reach out to the local public. Bartínez aims to position itself as an establishment where you can take a break at any time of day and have a beer or a quick bite. Furthermore, the tavern boasts its unbeatable location, right in the city center, which will be a great attraction for tourists and people passing through, who can sit inside, at the bar, or on the outdoor terrace.
New arrivals in the wine cellar every week
As expected, Bartínez also pays special attention to its wine cellar, carefully selecting the wines and beers it offers. Each week, the wines by the glass change, so that regular diners can sample different offerings. The wine list also has a distinctly Valencian character, without forgetting the rest of the D.O.s such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Rias Baixas.
An interesting feature of Bartínez is that, alongside its wine offerings, it seeks to highlight beer culture. To this end, it has a classic beer tap, like few places in Valencia have, signed by Cruzcampo. So, draft beer, poured with the same delicacy and quality with which Bartínez works daily, pays homage to past decades and transports diners to that traditional tavern with so much personality, now also in the center of Valencia.
Cruzcampo’s shooter brings us back to the old-fashioned taverns.
Bartínez’s hours cater to all tastes, designed to please both local and national diners, as well as foreign visitors, given that the establishment is located on one of Valencia’s tourist arteries. The bar opens at 11 a.m. and doesn’t close until 11 p.m., maintaining uninterrupted kitchen service and thus allowing for a full day of cooking.
