Berklee’s Global Music Night, organised by the Bancaja foundation, will take place at 8pm on Friday 27th January featuring international young musicians living and studying in the city of Valencia. Berklee Valencia is the first international campus established by the globally renowned college of music and is conveniently located in Valencia’s buzzing cultural hub; ‘Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias/ City of Arts and Sciences’. However, the concert will be in the auditorium of the Bancaja foundation- Valencia’s cultural centre that attracts art enthusiasts from all across the city. Celebrating the fifth edition with the collaboration of Pavasal, the performance is a part of the ‘Concerts a la Fundació’– a series of Friday night concerts by the talented young musicians. Previous events have featured the likes of ‘En Clave de Clot’, ‘La Habitación Roja’ and the initiative will be drawn to a close on the 10th February by the famous flamenco singer, Soleá Morente.
The international cast of students from Berklee will provide an evening of music with the ensemble led by professor and violinist, Federico Nathan. The band consists of Juan Pablo Arias, Kanghyun Park (Ahko), Felipe Ribeiro, Teréza Froncova, Ángela Moya Serrat and Seth Kyle Chen. They will also be joined on stage by professor and double bassist, Matthew Baker.
Providing students with a platform to showcase their work, the event promises to impress in its ability to glide between musical styles and genres which differ considerably in form and energy. The ensemble will perform a repertoire that blurs the boundary between classical and popular music. From drums and guitars to violins and vocals, the blissful blend of instruments takes the listener on a journey through different sound universes with plenty of musical twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
As a result of the diversity in musical backgrounds, each student brings a unique talent that ultimately contributes to the epic creation of a profound musical experience. The combination of lighter and darker corners of music with the fusion of styles makes for a truly unique experience that should not go amiss! Tickets for this much-anticipated event cost only €4 and go on sale from 5pm Tuesday 24th January at the box office in Plaza Tetuán. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience some of the very best young musical talent the city has to offer.
