ENJOY FRIDAYS IN FEBRUARY AT  ‘LA BATISFERA’ WITH LIVE MUSIC!

On the Friday of every week in February 2024, a series of concerts will be taking place at ‘La Batisfera’ in the dynamic barrio of Cabanyal. For the 6th year running, the bookshop/bar will be hosting the festival. This year will feature the artists ‘Modo Libre’, ‘VIta BreVIS’, ‘A-Coplados’ & ‘Krama.’ La Batisfera can be found at C/ de la Reina, 167, Poblats Maritims 46011 serving a plethora of second-hand books, booze and bites to eat.

On the 2nd February, La Batisfera will play host to Modo Libre, a collective from Santa Clara, Cuba who will be performing traditional Cuban music. This will be a great chance to hear original music from Cuba that differs from the music such as the iconic ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ that in the past has been largely dominating foreign ears. Performing original music, they blend influences from jazz and classical to the backdrop of Cuba’s rich and diverse musical heritage.

On the 9th February, La Batisfera will be joined by VIta BreVis, an entrancing, multi genre project that combine poetry, folk music and electronica across multiple languages over the romantic languages, both past and present to provide a seance into their theatrical narrative and poetry performances

The 16th February brings us back to Spain with the flamenco/soul fusion of A-Coplados who evoke the flavours and smells of the Mediterranean combining rumba, copla and flamenco in Valencia, Spanish, French and Italian comprising of original compositions brought forth by the powerful voice of Amalia Esquerdo.

The finale is on the 23rd of February, when ‘La Batisfera’ brings you Greece for the music of Krama, an energetic band that draws its influences from the Mediterranean, as well as the Middle East and the Balkans. Consisting of an 8-string guitar, double bass and the enchanting vocals of Rafael Arnal, allow yourself to be transported to a place where no two songs feel the same. Mixing compositions between the languid and the lively, Krama concur images and poetry influenced by the sounds of the countries that gave birth to the world that we know today.
