Valencia, 11th February 2025.- Juan Luis Cebrián inaugurates tomorrow at the Casino de Agricultura the new cycle of the Foundation El Secreto de la Filantropía, which under the title ‘En Tiempo de Letras’ will bring together presentations of new publications, selected for the quality of the works or the relevance of their authors. It will work along four lines: essays, historical novels, crime novels and poetry. The Sánchez Effect (ethics and politics in the post-truth era), by Juan Luis Cebrián. Editorial Ladera Norte will be responsible for launching this series. Ricardo Cayuela, editor of the book, writer and journalist, will sit down with the author to analyse, in a conversation, the keys to the political phenomenon of recent years. The event will take place at 19:00 and is open to the public until full capacity is reached.
Juan Luis Cebrián, journalist and writer, has been one of the most important figures in the world of the press in Spain since the beginning of the Transition. Founder of El País, director of the same and president, first executive and then honorary, of Grupo Prisa, which he left in 2024, being signed by The Objective. He has been considered one of the 10 most influential Spaniards in Spain and Latin America. He is an academician of the RAE and an executive member of the Bilderberg Group.
The Sánchez effect is a review of the peculiar political moment we are living through, taking a look at both the Spanish and the international scene. It is a critical reflection, made out of concern and worry, showing a firm commitment to democratic values, the rule of law and respect for freedoms, and to attitudes that contribute to the construction of coexistence, such as dialogue and consensus, all of which are currently in a process of patent relativisation and subordination to the priority objective of having and exercising power.
Juan Luis Cebrián will be accompanied by Luis Trigo, president of the El Secreto de la Filantropía Foundation, who will inaugurate a cycle in which most of the authors selected will be national or international.
Open to the general public, the aim is to bring together renowned authors who come to Valencia to present their works and to encourage a dialogue around them.
“The selection of authors and works will be very careful and we will try to ensure that the presentation revolves around issues of real interest or current affairs so that each meeting is very attractive and constitutes an appointment of special value,” explained Trigo.
Fundación El Secreto de la Filantropía works to create areas for reflection and dialogue in the field of culture that give civil society a greater role.
