LIVE TANGO SHOW AT CULLERA CASTLE 30 AUGUST (EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH Analía Bueti)

INTERVIEW | Analía Bueti, Argentine tango singer and organizer of the International Tango Series at Cullera Castle:  “Cullera Castle has a magic that can’t be found anywhere else.”

Next Saturday, August 30th at 10:00 p.m. the closing ceremony of the Annual Tango Cycle will be held at the Cullera Castle, a cultural proposal that, after eleven uninterrupted editions, has consolidated itself as one of the essential summer events in the town and that has been recognized and integrated into the International Tango and Tourism Route for its cultural interest and all this has been thanks to:

Analía Bueti (Buenos Aires, Argentina), a tango singer, organizer and the soul of the series, has been responsible for bringing this event to life. During the months of July and August, it has brought together great international musicians, dancers and artists in an incomparable setting: the Patio de Armas del Castell, overlooking the Mediterranean and under the starry sky.

We spoke with Analía Bueti just days before the closing of this new edition, which once again sold out and thrilled a completely devoted audience.

24/7 Valencia: How are you experiencing this final stretch of the cycle?

Analía Bueti: With a mixture of excitement and sadness. Every year, closing the cycle leaves me feeling empty, but also I have the joy of having shared unforgettable nights. Although I’ve performed on many stages, Cullera Castle has a special magic, a closeness to the audience that makes it unique. It’s a place that captivates, and you can feel that from the first beat.

After eleven years, what do you think has made this series so special for the public?

I think it’s a combination of factors: the castle’s natural surroundings, the quality of the musicians who accompany me, the dancers who bring the tango to life on stage, and that intimate connection with the audience. There are nights when the audience’s silence speaks volumes, and others when we all end up singing together. That communion isn’t easily achieved, and it happens here year after year.

The series has always had a great response from the public. How do you experience that affection from the stage?

It’s wonderful. Every performance ends with the audience on their feet, demanding encores and singing along. There’s a mutual gratitude. We give everything, and the audience returns it in spades. It’s a powerful closing energy, and that drives us to keep dreaming and working for the next edition.

What can you tell us about this Saturday’s show on August 30th?

It will be a very special evening, a celebration of everything we’ve experienced this summer. There will be surprises, lots of excitement, and, as always, top-quality music and dance. I want it to be the perfect ending to this edition and for the audience to take away that indelible memory that only tango can leave.

Will there be a Tango Cycle in 2026?

Of course! As long as the public continues to respond like this and the Castle continues to open its doors to us, we will return. This is no longer just an event: it’s a meeting with the soul of tango and with all those who feel it. And I want to take this opportunity to thank the Cullera City Council, the director of the Cullera Museum of History and Archaeology, the staff of the Tourist Office, and Visit Cullera for all their support and collaboration.

Especially, I also want to thank  my colleagues (musicians and dancers) who have accompanied me during this edition and without whom these magical nights would not have happened, such as:

Juan Esteban Cuacci (pianist), Emiliano Pérez (violinist), Mariano Siccardi (pianist), Carlos Sanchis (accordionist), Barbara Palmer (dancer), Hector Ferrer (dancer), Débora Godoy (dancer), Carlos Guevara (dancer).

Thanks to all of them and to the audience that filled every performance.
