##Les Arts és Simfònic

The legendary Manfred Honeck conducts Beethoven’s Symphonies 1 and 5 in his debut with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana at Les Arts

– The Pittsburgh Symphony conductor regularly works with the most prestigious ensembles in Europe and the United States.
– Manfred Honeck and the OCV offer this programme on June 18 and 19 at the Auditori. Ticket prices range from 30 to 45 euros.

The Austrian Manfred Honeck, one of the most renowned conductors in the international circuit, will conduct Beethoven’s Symphonies 1 and 5 with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV) on June 18 and 19 at the Auditori del Palau de Les Arts.

Les Arts replaces Beethoven’s ‘Ninth’ with this programme, with works by the same composer, in order to preserve the artistic guarantees that allow the public to enjoy the debut of the prestigious maestro conducting the OCV.

Manfred Honeck is, since 2008, chief conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, one of the oldest ensembles in the United States, with which he has received numerous awards and distinctions for his recordings of Beethoven, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Strauss and Shostakovich, among which the Grammy Award of the American industry stands out.

In his first visit to Les Arts, Honeck keeps Beethoven’s symphonic works as his letter of introduction. The Austrian conductor has selected the ‘Symphony No. 1″, which gives a glimpse of the essence of the German genius in his first foray into the symphonic field, to conclude with the ‘Fifth’, one of the most appreciated pages of the repertoire and still unpublished in Les Arts, whose first four notes are a universal part of classical music.

Les Arts reminds us that the concert on Friday 18 begins at 8 p.m., while on Saturday 19 the starting time will be 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from 30 to 45 euros.

Manfred Honeck

Manfred Honeck is considered one of the most relevant conductors on the circuit. Trained in the most genuine Viennese musical tradition, the unmistakable stamp of his interpretations has earned him international recognition from critics and audiences, as well as numerous distinctions, such as the ‘Artist of the Year’ award he received at the 2018 International Classical Music Awards.

He is a regular presence in the most prestigious orchestras in Europe and the United States. In this regard, European formations such as the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, the Staatskapelle of Dresden, the Tonhalle of Zurich, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Orchestre de Paris or the London Symphony, or the groups that make up the American ‘Big five’: the New York Philharmonic, the Boston and Chicago Symphonies and the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras stand out.

Manfred Honeck also cultivates an important operatic facet. Music director from 2007 to 2011 at the Stuttgart Opera, he has also collaborated with the Dresden Semperoper, the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Komische Oper, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Copenhagen Opera and the Theater an der Wien, among others.
