Ogun Afrobeat is an international band led by Nigerian drummer and singer Akin Onasanya that combines the powerful rhythms of Afrobeat and other styles from Nigeria and Africa with American black music such as soul and funk. It’s a natural musical journey back and forth. The band, dedicated to the orisha of strength and war in the Yoruba pantheon, sings in the language that represents West Africa and also in English. ‘Ogun Afrobeat’ has become a real travelling UN, with musicians from Cuba, Colombia, Italy, Romania and Spain, and they say that on some occasions they have had to play for more than three hours once the audience was completely absorbed by the imperative Afrobeat rhythm. 21st century Afrobeat that doesn’t forget its Yoruba roots – don’t forget your dancing shoes!
