Alberto Usó fills Las Cervezas del Mercado by BWK with “Street Musicians”.
“Músicos Callejeros” is the title of the exhibition of photographs by Alberto Usó from Castellón that can be seen at ‘Las Cervezas del Mercado’ by BWK in the Mercado de Colón of Valencia and is a selection of the work of four years capturing unique moments of musicians performing, always in the street, always on the move.
Alberto Usó, a member of the Nómadas Click collective, was born in Castellón in 1950 and since his youth he has not stopped travelling with his camera, his indispensable travel companion. After so many adventures and so many trips, he has been collecting the essence of the places and their people, some untamed… others dangerous, but all very interesting for the numerous photographic exhibitions he has made.
One of the many exhibitions also took place in ‘Las Cervezas del Mercado’ and reflected the image of women from Namibia, Niger, Algeria, Tanzania, Cambodia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Borneo, Ethiopia and Nepal. He currently has three goddaughters in Katmandu and three godchildren in Ethiopia.
This time, he returns to Europe to reflect his other passions such as music, people and the joy of living. When he started photographing musicians, it was difficult to capture them with so much movement, but after going on several occasions, he got them to collaborate with his work so he not only captured moments, but also, as always, made friends.
Usó has returned to many of the places and has established relationships with some tribes, trying to collaborate with them, as for example in the last trip he made in December to the Omo River Valley in Ethiopia. With the total amount of money he raised from the sale of an edition of books with his photographs, he was able to buy food, blankets, clothes, medicines and even help in the construction of huts.
Between several worlds, Usó still feels that he has to hurry, to know everything, so he came straight to the opening of his exhibition from the volcanoes of Iceland, faithful to his leitmotiv: “We only have one life, but if we know how to live it, one is enough”.
In ‘Las Cervezas del Mercado’ you can find the largest assortment of imported beers (more than 500), an extensive range of craft beers, including their selection of craft beers from the Valencian Community.
