SUMA LEAGUE REACHES ITS HALFWAY POINT WITH THE VI REGATTA IN BENIDORM

The SUMA Fixed Bank League of the Mediterranean has a race in Benidorm this Sunday March 12th. The league is organised by the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community with the support of SUMA Gestión Tributaria. This regional competition, a national benchmark, faces the VI Regatta of the scheduled eleven, which is a decisive phase for the final classification. It is a multitudinous sporting event, since more than 620 athletes, corresponding to a wide range of age groups, have been summoned.

The regatta course will be located outside the Club Náutico Benidorm facilities, next to the lighthouse of the city’s port and the well-known Balcón Mediterráneo. These are the two points from which the public will be able to watch the race. The distance covered varies depending on the category. The Infant, Cadet, Veteran and SCM (people who have overcome breast cancer) groups will row 700 metres and overcome a tack. On the other hand, the Juvenile and Absolute teams increase the intensity, with 1,400 metres and three tacks. More than seventy boats are expected to take part, which will set the pace for a day of rowing, beginning at 9:00 am and lasting throughout the morning in Benidorm.

The category with the largest number of participants will be the veterans, in which 29 teams will depart. In addition, there will be 17 senior boats, one of Mixed Category Promotion, four of Mixed Gender Promotion, one of SCM, two of SCM Promotion, four juveniles, ten cadets and one of Mixed Children Promotion. There is a single heat in each category and the final ranking is established on a first-come, first-served basis.

The eighteen clubs participating in the VI Regatta of the Mediterranean SUMA Fixed Bank League are Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca, Club Náutico Altea, Club Náutico Benidorm, Club Náutico Campello, Club Náutico Santa Pola, Club Rem Cía Gandía, Club Rem Denia, Real Club Náutico Denia, Club Remo Torrevieja, Real Club Náutico Calpe, Real Club Náutico Valencia, Club de Remo Ciudad de Valencia, Real Club Náutico Gandía, Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, Real Club Regatas Alicante, Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant, Club Deportivo de Mar Clot de L’Illot El Campello and Club de Remo Carthago Boga-Santa Lucía.
