“The Arts is Education” with Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana

##Les Arts invites you to get to know the instruments that make up an orchestra with ‘Discover the OCV’.

– From 30 April, the theatre’s xarxes and website will be launching this audio-visual project, which will be included in the academic training plans in September.

– In a weekly, open and bilingual format, the professors of the Orquestra de les Arts explain the particularities and history of the instruments that make up the orchestra.

The Palau de les Arts invites you to get to know the instruments that make up a symphony orchestra with ‘Descobreix l’OCV’, a new educational production that will be available to all citizens from April 30th.

As of this date, the theatre’s social networks and website will be offering this innovative audiovisual production, produced entirely by the professional team of the Arts and coordinated by the artistic direction of the cultural centre, openly and free of charge.

The purpose of ‘Discover the OCV’ is to introduce both the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the instruments that make it up, through a series of videos in which the musicians themselves, who make up the orchestra, explain in a simple and practical way the particularities of each one, accompanied by live performances of some of the reference pieces for each instrument.

The audiovisual content, recorded in bilingual format, has an average duration of no more than 10 minutes, in order to generate a material accessible from any technological support.

Descobreix l’OCV’ contains the following chapters: violin, flute, horn, clarinet, viola, violoncello, contrabassoon, bassoon, oboe, timpani, trumpet, tuba and xylophone. Each of the 13 videos that will be available for viewing on the Arts website every week is starring the teachers of the OCV. The journalist and presenter Maribel Vilaplana is in charge of introducing each of the broadcasts of this audiovisual series.

Overture and dissemination

The initiative is part of the ‘Arts is Education’ section of the Arts’ commitment to opening up the theatre to the public, its artistic activity and its personnel, in this case the OCV, considered one of the leading orchestras on the European operatic scene.

The project will have a second part of development focused on Valencian educational centres so that from next year they will have this resource accompanied by didactic guides thanks to the close collaboration between the Arts and the Directorate General for Educational Innovation of the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
