The trombonist and arranger Dan Barrett is considered one of the most outstanding jazz musicians on the international scene, along with the prestigious saxophonist Enric Peidro. They will perform for the first time at ‘Marino Jazz’, on Wednesday 15 November, with a quintet made up of, pianist Richard Busiakiewicz, Queralt Camps on bass and Michael Keul on the drums. Barrett and Peidro have been co-leading The Dan Barrett-Enric Peidro Quintet since 2018, a project with which they have toured Europe. This collaboration has materialized via three albums: And the Angels Swing (2018), It goes without saying (2019) and It’s a wonderful world (2021).

Dan Barrett has been a member of the orchestras of Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Buck Clayton, and has accompanied in concerts and recordings the likes of Rosemary Clooney, Mel Tormé and Tony Bennett, among others. His influences include great trombonists such as Lawrence Brown, Dickie Wells and Jack Teagarden. He has collaborated with many great musicians and recorded soundtracks for films such as Cotton Club (Coppola, 1984) and Bullets Over Broadway (Woody Allen, 1994).

The saxophonist Enric Peidro, has an extensive career behind him (seventeen records as a leader and more than thirty as a sideman), as well as frequent national and international tours and concerts at some of the most respected European festivals. His collaborations with renowned classical jazz musicians, demonstrates the saxophonist’s ability to integrate into different contexts with fluency. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest representatives of this traditional jazz style in Spain. His most recent works have garnered excellent reviews in specialised media all over the world, which have highlighted both Peidro’s commitment to classical jazz and his creative and imaginative approach to it. Experts highlight his great knowledge of mainstream jazz and his breadth of resources too. A show not to be missed!
