Top international golf returns to the region in September when La Sella Golf Resort plays host to the 25th leg of this season’s Ladies European Tour. The par 72 course, nestled in the Valencian countryside close to Denia, was part of the 2023 LET programme, and the total prize money for the event this year will once again be 1,000,000 euros. The current champion is the Mallorcan Nuria Iturrioz, who won a nail-biting tournament last time round, beating the German Laura Fuenfstueck in a thrilling play off.
The venue itself is no stranger to top golf events, having been tasked in the past to present iconic golf tournaments like the Women’s Senior European Cup, the Spanish Women’s and Senior Championships, and the LET European Nations Cup from 2008 to 2011.
Golf will very much be on the radar in the next few weeks, with this prestigious event taking place in La Sella from September 19-22. The week before the Solheim Cup will be played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Virginia and an impressive performance by the European team would undoubtedly swell the crowds at the Jose-Maria Olazabal inspired course in the Montgó National Park.
