Peter Perrett, born on April 8, 1952, in Camberwell, South London, is an English singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of the late 1970s band ‘The Only Ones’. The group gained cult status with their 1978 hit “Another Girl, Another Planet,” a track that has endured over the decades and continues to resonate with new generations.

Following The Only Ones’ disbandment in 1982, Perrett faced personal challenges, including struggles with addiction, which led to a prolonged hiatus from the music scene. He re-emerged in the mid-1990s with the band ‘The One’ and later reunited with The Only Ones in the late 2000s for live performances. In 2017, Perrett made a remarkable solo comeback with the album ‘How the West Was Won’, followed by ‘Humanworld’ in 2019, both reflecting his distinctive blend of wit and introspection.

In November 2024, Perrett released his third solo album, ‘The Cleansing’, an ambitious double album comprising 20 tracks. This project showcases his uniquely alluring melodies and South London drawl, exploring themes such as art, addiction, aging, and social media. Collaborating closely with his sons, Jamie (guitar/production) and Peter Jr. (bass), Perrett also enlisted notable musicians including Johnny Marr, Bobby Gillespie, and Carlos O’Connell of Fontaines D.C. The lead single, ‘I Wanna Go With Dignity’, exemplifies Perrett’s deadpan wit and candid reflection on mortality.

Critics have lauded ‘The Cleansing’ for its honesty, style, and humour. At 72, Perrett addresses profound subjects like death and despair with a surprisingly cheerful and tuneful approach, demonstrating resilience and creativity that defy his tumultuous past.

To support the album, Perrett has embarked on a tour in early 2025, with performances across the UK and Europe, including dates in Barcelona on February 28 and Valencia on March 1.
