THE LONG AWAITED SAN JUAN FESTIVAL CAME TO THE BEACHES OF VALENCIA THIS PAST SUNDAY, WITH AN EVENING OF BONFIRES, PARTYING AND TRADITION!

A recognition of the summer solstice and a night of mysticism and tradition, seemingly the entirety of Valencia came together on Sunday evening to partake in the biggest beach party of the year: The Fiesta De San Juan.

Arriving at Malvarrosa beach, seemingly the most popular spot for the festivities, the atmosphere was hectic yet exciting. Different genres of music reverberated out of a plethora of speakers, families gathered around barbecues, and huge groups of friends enjoyed drinks around their bonfires which were ready to be used later to burn written manifestations for the coming year, or to jump over seven times for good luck.

As per tradition, at midnight everyone rushed into the sea, desperate to claim its healing properties and gain good luck for the year. A magnificent firework display accompanied the midnight bathing, creating a euphoric atmosphere across the beaches. San Juan was a perfect way to celebrate the start of summer!
