You are here: Home / Music / Thursday, March 26th: Live music with Alex Hoskyns at ‘Burning House Cabanyal’
Alex’s voice carries the low rumble of the first commuter train, imposing and moving in the haze of a grey morning. Her genre mirrors her temperament, shifting from the melancholy of cinematic folk to cynical funk-rock. Like a true friend, her sincere lyricism reflects on discomfort, addressing thoughts one has tried to avoid. In the words of Ricco Love, of Interscope Records, “she can take an idea, a concept, and express it in a way I’ve never heard before.”
Formed by her father’s blues-infused piano riffs and a well-worn Susan Tedeschi CD, she has combined soul with over a decade of choral experience. Her music has taken her from Boston classics such as Club Passim, The Lizard Lounge, Hatch Shell, Symphony Hall, to festivals like Campfire Festival and Wake Up the Earth. This presentation marks a milestone: Alex will present Orion’s Belt in its entirety for the first time: a debut live experience of the album from start to finish before its official release at midnight. The evening offers a first listen to the heartbreaking stories and cinematic world of Orion’s Belt: stories that have never been heard until now. This evening will mark the live debut of her new album, “Orion’s Belt”. It promises to be an intimate and carefully crafted show. Alex’s voice, described by Interscope Records’ Ricco Love as someone who “can take an idea, a concept, and express it in a way I’ve never heard expressed before” sits with you long after the last song ends.
