WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND IN VALENCIA?

Can you feel it in the air? It’s getting warmer and it’s not from the burning puppets soon to be gracing Valencia’s streets. Eager travellers to the Cabanyal are tentatively dipping their toes into the water, some able to show their mirth by jumping in, others face the shameful walk back to the beach. This weekend is a big one as the Fallera Mayores will be heralding the beginning of Fallas, be sure not to miss it and be sure to have a look at what else is going on!

Friday 23rd February

Cabanyal: Friday heralds the beginning of the multi venue music festival MUV! who will be hosting a variety of music events starting with Krama, who draw their influences from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, bringing their lively and atmospheric performances to the audience. If there is a mood for the rhythms of Brazil, Saulo Oliveira will be leading with his project Samba y Algo Más, in a show alongside his own compositions forming an inciting repertoire to the sounds of Brazilian Popular Music at the S.M Poblados Maritíms. Later in the evening, reggae/dub DJ Charlart 58 will be playing out the night from 22:30h with no admission charged.

Can a puppet feel survivor’s guilt? Admission is €3.

Sunday 25th February

Torres Des Serranos: (POSTPONED) Fallas officially begins this Sunday when Maria Estela, this year’s Fallera Mayores of Valencia, officially announces the beginning of Fallas 2024 at 19:00h. Naturally there will be a display of fireworks and lights to accompany this very important time in the Valencian calendar. For those who wake up early, or if you live near El Carmen, a potential unwelcome disruption to your Sunday morning lie-in awaits as the falleros walk the streets warning the residents of the beginning of Fallas at around 07:30h.

The Torres Del Serranos is located at the northern tip of Turia Gardens at Plaça dels Furs, s/n, Ciutat Vella, 46003 València

Have a great weekend from the team at ‘24/7 Valencia’!
