WHAT’S ON AT THE ‘PALAU DE LES ARTS’ THIS MARCH…

In this month of March, behold one of the finest achievements at Les Arts by Robert Carsen as he brings his iconic rendition of Orpheus and Eurydice back to the stage. In a moving performance composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck, the tale of the two ill-fated lovers is brought alive in a moving display of the relationship between life and death bolstered by a powerful use of lighting, sand and shadows in a trademark display typical of that of Carsen. There is an ‘Under 28’ performance happening on the 1st March, where those under the age of 28 are able to purchase tickets for 10 euros, however this has now sold out. Regular tickets are available to buy for performances taking place from 3rd – 9th March.

Bear witness to the family flamenco affair of the acclaimed artist Vicente Soto ‘Sordera’, continues the families long line of musicianship alongside his daughter Lela Soto. The artists, originally from Barrio De Santiago, grace Valencia following their multi-continent world tour on 23rd March.

To cast the future generations asunder from the world of what is considered to be ‘high art’ may be a mistake, however who could blame them for finding it uninteresting, many adults do as well. Perhaps, let it not be the case with ‘Cuéntrame una opera’ (Tell me an opera), a show that aims to guide children up to 12 years old through the world of opera. The focus of this edition is on ‘L’elisir d’amore’ by Gaetano Donizetti, whereby children will be guided by a narrator, with the help of the main characters, to interpret the main musical passages to help them enjoy the play’s tales of love and adventure. Cuéntrame una opera will be taking place on the 9th & 10th of March at 12pm.

Finally, what would a report on events taking place in Valencia in March be without a mention of Fallas? Taking place on the 17th & 18th March will be an impressive display of fireworks from one of the most impressive areas to view the city’s vista. As part of the experience, Les Arts is offering a recital by the singers of the Les Arts’ Opera Studio at the Sala Principal, whereby those attending will be treated to a sumptuous libation in the form of a cocktail prepared by Gourmet Catering & Espacios. Tickets are available for 100 euros.

Tickets for performances and events mentioned above can be purchased from the Les Arts website: https://www.lesarts.com/en/programacion/
