‘EL TORO Y LA LUNA’: A MAGICAL NIGHT OF FLAMENCO AND SPANISH CUISINE IN VALENCIA

If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable night out in Valencia, ‘El Toro y La Luna’ is the place to be. Tucked away just off Avenida Blasco Ibáñez, this vibrant restaurant brings together the very best of Spanish culture — tasty Spanish cuisine and the passionate art of live flamenco — all under one roof. The evening at ‘El Toro y La Luna’ begins at 19:30h or 20.30h depending on the day of the week you choose, when the doors open for guests to enjoy a relaxed dinner experience. Their menu is a celebration of Spanish gastronomy, featuring tempting tapas like patatas bravas, croquetas, and huevos rotos and salad with goats’ cheese. Meat or vegetarian dishes are served as the main courses. These are perfectly paired with a crisp glass of white wine or red wine or beer or sangria. As the flavours dance on your tongue, anticipation for the night’s show builds.

After dinner, the restaurant truly comes alive as the live show begins. A family of seasoned artists, whose combined experience stretches over 80 years, takes the stage for a mesmerizing flamenco performance. The spirit of tradition and authenticity is at the heart of every show, captivating the audience from the first strum of the guitar to the final, impassioned dance.

Upon entering the venue, visitors are welcomed warmly — in our case, by Patricia, an accomplished flamenco dancer and daughter of the legendary singer ‘Pepe’. She graciously gave us a behind-the-scenes tour, sharing personal stories behind the black and white photos adorning the walls. They feature moments of her father playing flamenco music in his youth at an exclusive nightspot in the 1970s… to icons like Mick Jagger, Frank Sinatra, Charles Bronson, David Niven, Roger Moore, Omar Sharif and the future King Charles!

The flamenco performance at ‘El Toro y La Luna’  is wonderful. Patricia, joined by two other gifted flamenco dancers commanded the stage in traditional red traje de flamenca dresses, moving with an intensity and grace that captured the  soul of flamenco. The powerful accompaniment of Patricia’s brothers on guitar and vocals added a rich, authentic layer to the performance. Their music was punctuated with traditional calls of “olé” and “eso es,” creating an electrifying atmosphere that had the entire audience clapping along.

One of the most distinctive moments of the evening was when veteran flamenco singer Pepe took the stage for a few numbers. His commanding singing voice, rich with emotion and experience gave the show another flavour. Both Pepe and Patricia also ventured into the crowd at times,  interacting among the guests, making the night feel all the more intimate and special.

‘El Toro y La Luna’ isn’t just another dinner and show — it’s a heartfelt family tradition shared with everyone who walks through their doors. From the tasty food to the fiery passion of the flamenco, every detail promises a really memorable experience. It’s an uplifting night out for all ages.

The venue is open from Wednesday to Sunday. If you’re in Valencia and looking for a Spanish night that will stir your soul, delight your taste buds, and leave you with lasting memories, El Toro y La Luna is an absolute must-visit.
