Spanish street art duo PichiAvo just unveiled a monumental installation for the Fallas de Valencia—one that will exist for only a few days before burning to ashes.

Titled “Per ofrenar” (“To Offer”), the large-scale falla was created for the Borrull-Socors commission and presented in the festival’s ‘Experimental Fallas’ category, which highlights more conceptual and artistic proposals within the centuries-old celebration.

Installed on  C/ Borrull  31 in central Valencia, the monument takes the form of an Ionic temple inspired by the Temple of Athena Nike in Athens. Inside, an altar built from surplus paper left over from the printing of PichiAvo’s book Our Odyssey holds a perfectly balanced scale with two sculptural wax candles—one representing Classical Art and the other Graffiti.

The project took a year to conceive and was built using traditional fallas techniques and materials—wood and paper—avoiding the industrial materials often used in contemporary monuments. It was constructed by fallas artisan Paco Ribes.

The monument will remain on view until March 19, when it will be burned during La Cremà, the dramatic closing ritual of the Fallas festival.
