The film, awarded at RIZOMA and CPH:DOX, will be screened on May 8 at Cines ABC Park with a discussion alongside its director Lucía Selva. The subsequent meeting will be moderated by Ángela Saiz, a film content creator and manager of Rosebud, a benchmark for Valencian cinephilia. The film continues to expand its national tour with new dates in cities like Barcelona and Gijón. Following its premiere in Madrid, where it was warmly received by audiences, with subsequent discussions with various cultural and film collectives, Who Saw the Temples Fall continues its tour of cinemas/ theatres throughout Spain and will arrive in Valencia this Friday, May 8, at 6:00 p.m. at Cines ABC Park.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with its director, Lucía Selva, moderated by Ángela Saiz, a film content creator and manager of Rosebud, a benchmark for Valencian cinephilia thanks to its archive of over 15,000 soundtracks and the film club it promotes in the city. The debut film by the Granada filmmaker, produced by Mubox Studio and 59 en Conserva and distributed in Spain by Mubox, arrives in Valencia backed by a solid international track record that began a year ago at the prestigious Danish festival CPH:DOX, where it received the Special Jury Mention in the NEXT:WAVE section. Since then, the film has been screened at festivals such as Shanghai, Montreal, and the Seville European Film Festival (SEFF), in addition to winning the Best Film Award in the National Official Section of the RIZOMA Festival.

From the Albaicín to Cities in Transformation
Halfway between documentary essay and fiction, Who Saw the Temples Fall uses the mythical figure of Chorrojumo and the journey of Anas, a young man of Moroccan origin, to map a Granada in tension. Filmed in emblematic locations such as the Albaicín or the Puerta de la Justicia, the film moves away from the tourist gaze to focus on the resistance of those who inhabit the territory against gentrification, touristification, and the housing crisis.

What starts in Granada as a local experience resonates today as a symptom shared by many historical centres in the country.

In the words of its director, Lucía Selva:
“The origin of the film was the desire to take an eternal photograph of Granada and those of us who inhabit it. To be able to look at it in time, and say, that was also Granada! A way to save it from the passage of time, and destruction, and to remember it as I knew it.”
