‘ARROCEANDO COMUNITAT VALENCIANA’ UNTIL 26 NOVEMBER!

A good rice dish is a staple of Valencian gastronomy. This ingredient shapes the identity of the territory with gastronomic customs and traditions that are passed down through generations. That is why the Confederation of Hotels and Tourism of the Valencia Region, together with Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, has promoted the first edition of ‘Arroceando Comunitat Valenciana’. It is an initiative which aims to justify the importance of rice in all its varieties and cooked dishes.

The campaign will be held until 26 November, it includes menu proposals spread over the three provinces. More than sixty restaurants will offer rice dishes in the first days of Arroceando Comunitat Valenciana (Rice in the Region of Valencia). The participating restaurants are offering a complete menu with starters, a rice dish and dessert, all starting at 30 euros. The aim of Arroceando Comunitat Valenciana is to promote the most emblematic product of the Comunitat Valenciana, which is local and indigenous.

Rice is the basis of the diet of many countries and cultures. In Valencia, it is difficult to understand gastronomy without talking about rice. For the Valencians, it is a family tradition which encapsulates an authentic wealth of heritage that is now being highlighted with the arrival of the first “Arroceando Comunitat Valenciana”. The campaign aims to highlight the value of local tradition and produce, which comes from the rice fields of l’Albufera to the Valencian people’s tables.

The gastronomic proposals of this first edition of Arroceando can be tasted in any of the three provinces of the Community. In Valencia, there are numerous menu options spread throughout the different neighbourhoods of the city. If the diner chooses a wine as an accompaniment, a requirement is it must be of Valencian origin. Also, in Castellón and Alicante, there are more outstanding proposals such as Atalaya (Alcossebre), with a Michelin Star.

Rice is, without a doubt, the star product of the Valencian territory. It is capable of delighting diners from the Community, but also those who come from abroad. Whatever its preparation and ingredients, it represents the diversity of Spain’s pantry and recipes. The various recipes are a sacred custom, shared around the table with family and friends, celebrating tradition.
