CHEFS FROM CASTELLÓN, ALICANTE AND VALENCIA  COMPETE IN SEARCH OF THE RECIPE THAT BEST CAPTURES THE PURELY VALENCIAN FLAVOUR!

#SOMESMORZADORS!

Amstel challenges restaurateurs to create ‘De la Terra’, the new star snack of l’esmorzar valencià (Valencian snacking). Traditional preparations, new versions of popular recipes, vegetables, meats, fish, cheeses and sausages from the region… everything that brings the flavor of the Valencian Community to the palate, are the ingredients of the initiative with which Amstel revolutionizes l’esmorzar this fall. The second edition of the competition for restaurateurs organized by Amstel is now open for registration. Up to 300 chefs from Alicante, Castellón and Valencia will be able to participate in the competition to create ‘De la Terra’, the new sandwich that aspires to become part of the classic Valencian lunch.

The public will choose the 10 finalist sandwiches by voting and a jury will decide the winner. On the website somesmorzadors.es you can consult the participating locals, along with the recipe they present, as well as win prizes such as free lunches or a gastronomic trip.

This autumn, Amstel convenes a new competition for hoteliers to revolutionize the panorama of l’esmorzar valencià and claim that #SomEsmorzadors. In October, the second edition of this contest will be launched, for which the registration period is still open until October 7, and this year aims to find the flavor of the Valencian Community.

Vegetables from the orchard, sausages and traditional cheeses, meats, fish and eggs from the region, everything that brings to the palate the flavor of this autonomous community are the main ingredients of a competition in which Amstel challenges restaurateurs to create ‘De la Terra’, the sandwich that best represents the richness and uniqueness of Valencian gastronomy.

This is the second edition of #SomEsmorzadors, an initiative that started last year with a competition for chefs in the province of Valencia, on that occasion to create the ‘Quart de Poblet’, an entrepà that reflects the essence of the town where Amstel makes its recipes. And the experience was a great success, with Beluga as the winner, who took his recipe to the stand of the Valencian Community at IFEMA.

One year later, the challenge is also open to cooks from Alicante and Castellón, who join those from Valencia in a delicious competition that highlights the taste of doing it well, claiming the most genuinely Valencian food, elaborations and traditions.

A UNIQUE RITUAL IN SPAIN

The custom of the Valencian lunch comes from the stops made by the farmers to regain strength at mid-morning, when they had been working for several hours in a day that started at dawn. This ritual has been surviving, maintaining its origins, its traditional elaborations, but also evolving with sophisticated culinary proposals. What is never lacking are tramussos, cacau del collaoret or other variants to whet the appetite, a tasty (and often succulent) sandwich as a main course, usually accompanied by fresh beer. A cremaet coffee puts the finishing touch to a feast for body and mind, as it allows you to sit at the table to enjoy a moment of quality time with colleagues, friends or family.

Every day, at mid-morning, a legion of esmorzadors take their time to enjoy the delights of this intergenerational tradition, which is practiced throughout the territory of the Comunitat and has versions for any pocket. A gastronomic singularity that has no parallel in the rest of the country, where they settle for a quick coffee or wait for an aperitif to satisfy their appetite with a pincho or tapa.

Amstel ‘Made in Valencia’ knows Valencian esmorzar very well since, for decades, it has been an essential element of the menu. As the only major brand brewery that produces its products in the Valencian Community, where it entered through the old El Águila brewery, located in El Cabanyal in the 1950s, Amstel’s relationship with the region has deepened over the years and has grown closely linked to traditions, popular festivals and moments of relaxation, such as the classic Valencian lunches.
