ENJOYING LIVE TANGO MUSIC AT ‘CAFÉ MERCEDES JAZZ’

Set in the cosy Mercedes Jazz Café venue in the heart of the Ruzafa, ‘La Morocha Tango Trio’ offered a passionate performance last night.  The Morocha Tango band was formed in 2017 and is comprised of three incredible performers, who over the years have performed on various stages, including the Teatre Talia, the Castle of Cullera, and they have even represented the City of Valencia in the World Tango Summit held in Melilla.

Now proud Valencianos, but originally from South America, lead singer, Analía Bueti, was born and raised in Argentina; incredible violinist Emiliano Pérez is Uruguayan and pianist Mariano Siccardi is from Mar de Plata, Argentina!

The three performers brought the audience a taste of Argentina, through a medley of authentic tangos, waltzes and milongas. They successfully conveyed the musical richness, emotion and poetry associated with tango, a music style that originated in the 19th century in Buenos Aires, and is characterised by its rhythmic, melodic structure.

Analía’s emotion and body language throughout the songs oscillated from playful and light-hearted, to dramatic and passionate, a performance that kept the audience engaged throughout. There was a captivating dynamic between all three performers, and a strong chemistry was apparent. This manifested a delightful atmosphere that invited the audience into the intimacy.

Because of this intimate setting, interactions with the audience were meaningful. A fellow Valenciano was invited onto the stage to perform an emotional ballad that left the audience tearful, and everyone got involved in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Emiliano, the violinist.

After demonstrating the incredible talent they have as a trio, Analía would occasionally leave the stage to allow for an instrumental performance between Emiliano and Mariano. This highlighted even further the expertise of the individual musicians and the complimentary sound of the violin and piano. The trio gave a spectacular performance and left the audience energised and inspired.
