When future music historians draw up a list of the movers and shakers who changed the modern musical landscape, there is no doubt that Hugh Cornwell’s name will feature prominently among them. As leader of ‘The Stranglers’, Hugh was the primary composer of all the band’s most memorable songs on ten stellar albums, all of which cemented Cornwell’s stature as a unique songwriter and musician. His lyrics to ‘Golden Brown’, from the album ‘La Folie’, and its multiple meanings, are a masterclass in songwriting. Widely regarded as punk’s poet laureate, Hugh Cornwell has also created a substantial and singular body of impressive solo albums. In October 2024, Hugh released a double live vinyl album entitled ‘All the Fun of the Fair’ with four bonus tracks on CD and a further four bonus tracks for digital release. On 9 May 2025, he visits Valencia with his band to perform Stranglers classics and songs from his latest solo albums.
