JIMMY GLASS JAZZ FESTIVAL (VALENCIA)…OCTOBER 20 – NOVEMBER 23 (2021)

##Between 20 October and 23 November, other great international figures such as Champian Fulton, Petros Klampanis, Tony Tixier, Tobias Meinhart and Perico Sambeat with the Jimmy Glass 30th anniversary band (JG 30th Anniversary Jazz Band), among others, will also take part.

The Jimmy Glass, true to its spirit and despite the difficulty of having international artists given the world health situation, will celebrate the tenth edition of its International Contemporary Jazz Festival with the participation of three groups from New York and five European groups, including the Valencian Community.

Groups from different tendencies will showcase the latest in international jazz through nine concerts in the Official Section and seventeen in the Off Festival to present their most recent works.
The seventeen Off Festival concerts will feature important national and international musicians and groups.

This special programme is sponsored by the Gente del Jimmy Glass association and Estrella de Galicia 1906, as well as with the collaboration of Santa Fe Custom Drums.

Official Section
The Official Section of the festival will open on October 20th with the performance of the quartet of the great tenor saxophonist Rick Margitza, member of Miles Davis’ band in the eighties and nineties and one of the best players of this instrument in the last forty years. A concert sponsored by the Gente del Jimmy Glass Jazz association.

On Tuesday 26th, the trio of the American pianist and singer Champian Fulton, a regular performer at venues and clubs such as Lincoln Center, Birland, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and Smalls, will perform.
With his inseparable Kristjan Randalu and Bodek Janke, the admired trio of double bassist Petros Klampanis will perform the following day, 27 October.

The impressive quartet of tenor saxophonist Tobias Meinhart will open the November programme with pianist Eden Ladin, double bassist Matt Penman and drummer Obed Calvaire, one of today’s best rhythmic bases.
The trio of guitarist Tom Ollendorff, a new international figure of this instrument, will perform on the 4th to present A Song for you.

The 9th will be the presentation of Age of Reason, the new album by the superband Scopes, with pianist Tony Tixier, saxophonist Matt Chalk, double bassist Tom Berkmann and drummer Mathias Ruppnig.
Led by Sun Mi Hong, the brilliant Korean drummer based in the Netherlands, she will present her young and successful quintet on Thursday 11. She will premiere her latest album, A Self-Strewn Portrait, at Jimmy Glass.

The Festival will close with the 30th Anniversary Jazz Band
The Jimmy Glass will celebrate its 30th anniversary on the 23rd of November with the performance of a double band of great musicians living in the Valencian Community directed by Perico Sambeat and sponsored by the association Gente del Jimmy Glass Jazz. A celebration that highlights the great trajectory of this Valencian jazz club, considered one of the best in the world and through which great legends and stars of international jazz have passed.
