‘LAMBURGUESA’ INVITES 1000 PEOPLE TO EAT UNDER THE MOTTO “IT COSTS LITTLE TO HELP A LOT”

In Valencia, on December 19th, 2023, amidst the festive atmosphere of Christmas, Lamburguesa has aimed to bring joy to those who are having a difficult time and have it harder to enjoy these festivities. Under the motto “Cuesta Poco Ayudar Mucho” (It costs little to help a lot), they distributed 1,000 free meals to people in vulnerable situations such as homeless people or children at risk of social exclusion. The event took place near the AVE Station and a complete meal was given to each person.

This initiative is part of the ongoing commitment of ‘El Gordo y El Flaco’, the restaurant group led by Salva and Pablo Martínez which, for over five years, has been actively involved in social causes. On this year, the event has been held with the collaboration of Cruz Roja, Corazones Unidos and Casa Caridad. The main point of this year’s event has been the distribution of free meals and took place the past 4th of December. Over a 1,000 people enjoyed a beef burger with cheese and bacon, French fries, and a choice of water or soda.

In order to extend the reach to more families in need, Lamburguesa offered for over four hours a takeout service for those unable to attend the event in person. The restaurant also plans additional offline Christmas celebrations, including buses around Valencia in collaboration with UberEats and cohesive messages displayed on billboards until the end of the festivities.

This charitable initiative was started by El Gordo y El Flaco group in 2019, with over 1,500 invitations distributed during the Christmas season. In 2020, despite challenges posed by Covid restrictions, Lamburguesa adapted by delivering over 500 individual meals to schools, day centres, and homes of families at risk of exclusion (as the restaurant could not be visited because of restrictions) in partnership with various organizations such as Fundación San Juan Bautista, Casa Caridad and Save The Children.

In the following years, Lamburguesa collaborated with Valencia CF to provide unique experiences for children, combining burgers, football, and Christmas gifts. This ongoing commitment to social responsibility reflects El Gordo y El Flaco’s dedication to making a positive impact in the community, extending beyond the holiday season.
