The passion of tango is once again renewed in Valencia, consolidating its place on the cultural bill with the sixth season at the ‘Teatre Talia’, paying tribute to the legend of Carlos Gardel. Looking back, we recognise how tango has been gaining strength in Valencia’s enriched cultural agenda. In this cultural phenomenon, one name stands out: Analía Bueti, a singer and artistic disseminator who, for more than twenty years, has worked tirelessly to ensure that tango is appreciated and enjoyed in all its forms. In recognition of her work, in 2013 she was sponsored by the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Spain and in November 2023, the Government of the Argentine Nation awarded her the distinction of ARGENTINE IN THE WORLD, for her career and for being a genuine ambassador of the cultural richness of the country and for representing tango in an exceptional way.

The year has been full of events that have enriched the tango scene in Valencia, from the Festival Internacional de Tango de Valencia, the Ciclo de Tango at the Castillo de Cullera to the tribute to women in tango with the ‘Ciclo de Les Dones i el Tango’ at the Teatre Talia, and the monthly cycle ‘Desde Dos Orillas’ at the Café Mercedes Jazz, presenting diverse proposals and numerous acclaimed artists, all of them created and artistically directed by Analía Bueti. The culmination of this successful year comes with two celebrations, that will close this month dedicated to International Tango Day with a flourish.

On Sunday 10 December at 12:00 noon, the CCCC Centro del Carmen de Cultura Contemporánea will host an extraordinary ‘milonga’ with free admission, with the collaboration of the prestigious Club del Tango de la Comunidad Valenciana and the support of the Consorcio de Museos de la Generalitat Valenciana. Dance enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the tandas of tango DJ Pepe Ibáñez, while the curious public will be able to immerse themselves in this event.

The closing of the celebrations will take place on Monday 18 December at 20:30h at the emblematic ‘Teatre Talia’ in Valencia, with the presentation of the VI season of the Tango musical show “La Noche que me quieras. A tribute to Carlos Gardel”, with a cast of extraordinary artists recognised on the international tango scene. Under the musical direction of Mar del Plata pianist Mariano Siccardi, the cast is completed by Analía Bueti as creator and singer, Argentine bandoneonist Luis Caruana, Uruguayan violinist Emiliano Pérez, and master dancers Débora Godoy and Carlos Guevara.

This show, worthy of the greatest stages, represents different moments of Carlos Gardel’s artistic life through  careful choreography, lighting, visual effects and costume changes, accompanied by a select and renowned repertoire that gives emotion and magic to the audience, who, once again, will be captivated by the proposal to which the artist Analía Bueti has happily accustomed us.
