Les Arts és flamenco… ‘Argentina’ at Palau de les Arts of Valencia on April 23

## ‘ARGENTINA’ (MARIA LÓPEZ TRISTANCHO) dedicates her performance at Les Arts to the purest flamenco repertoire.

– The artist from Huelva will be accompanied by José Quevedo ‘Bolita’ on guitar and Los Mellis on backing vocals, handclaps and jaleos.

The Huelva-born artist Argentina dedicates her performance this Friday, the 23rd of April, at the Palau de les Arts of Valencia (Teatre Martín i Soler) as part of the cycle ‘Les Arts és flamenco’, to the purest repertoire of flamenco singing.

Accompanied by José Quevedo ‘Bolita’ on guitar and Los Mellis on backing vocals, hand-clapping and jaleos, the cantaora has prepared a programme of classic cante for the audience of Les Arts, in which she will perform traditional flamenco palos (forms).

An artist with a powerful voice and elegant phrasing, ‘Argentina’ is one of the great ladies of today’s flamenco, an inescapable presence in the main cycles dedicated to this genre.

Her breakthrough in 2006 with the album ‘Argentina’ became one of the most celebrated debuts of the genre, winning the Critics’ Prize for Best Newcomer Singer album, as well as topping the charts of the main Andalusian music radio stations.

Twice nominated for a Latin Grammy, the figure of the Huelva-born singer, with five albums on the market, is growing unstoppably on the national music scene with performances in the major Spanish theatres and auditoriums, as well as on the international circuit, especially in the United States, where she has performed at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, and at the legendary SOB’s in New York.

Argentina also stands out for the versatility of her voice, which allows her to make flamenco genres such as fado, tango, bolero, ranchera, copla… The singer has just released her latest single, ‘Que alguien me diga’, a new version of the song by the great Panamanian composer Omar Alfanno.
