40 years of improving life for all who visit, Alcampo celebrates its start in Valencia…
The hypermarket that has it all: Alcampo in Alboraya, Spain! Alcampo is not only giant and filled with deals, free tasting samples, and friendly faces, but it is also situated right along the beach and boasts several cafes and restaurants. The hypermarket has been in the Valencian community since 1985 and has been making waves ever since. With six centres in Valencia, Castellon, and Alicante, Alcampo employs 1,000 people and holds the Top Employer Seal (a recognition of the company’s Human Resources policy, working environment, and promotion of well-being).
Impacts on the community
The company has upheld its objectives for four decades now, pledging to improve the quality of life for citizens by offering various quality options to customers at an affordable price, in addition to practicing fair, ethical trade in the local communities. Since their opening in Alboraya, more than 50 million people are estimated to have visited the market. Talk about a large community outreach!
While Alcampo works to satisfy customers in the local community, it also promotes longevity within the company, with around thirty workers who joined Alcampo in 1985 still being a part of the workforce today. Roberto Cano, current manager of Alcampo Alboraya, spoke at the anniversary event, saying “These last 40 years would not have been possible without the fantastic Alcampo Alboraya team, the engine and soul of our shop”.
The Valencian seal
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there’s more. If you have been searching for somewhere to choose from a large variety of fish, meats, fruits, and vegetables that are locally sourced, search no further, because Alcampo even offers local options from the Valencian region. Yes, you read that right. The company buys from around thirty Spanish fish markets, and 100% of the lamb, chicken, and pork products are sourced in Spain.
As allowed by season, Alcampo also offers locally sourced fresh fruits and vegetables. A visual representation of its commitment to local products, many of its products boast main quality seals that easily recognize them as excellent options, such as the PGI Valencia Citrus, the PDO Granada Mollar de Elche, and more.
