Alonso Núñez Fernández (Rancapino Chico), is the son of the great cantaor Alonso Núñez Núñez ‘Rancapino’. In the words of his father: ‘the child hummed the songs before he started to speak.’ He started at a very young age, with his father as a source of inspiration. Thanks to him, he kept in touch with flamenco figures such as Manolo Caracol, Antonio Mairena, Juan Talega, Antonio el de la Calza, La Perla de Cádiz, Aurelio Sellé, Chato de la Isla, Paco Toronjo Camarón, Juanito Valderrama, among others.
In 2016, in recognition of his great career, and despite his youth, he was awarded in the IX Edition of the Premios de Cultura Gitana – Jóvenes Creadores (Gypsy Culture Awards – Young Creators). In 2019 he released his first album, ‘Por mi amor al arte’, recorded in a special way on a farm in Mairena del Alcor. This album was recorded live accompanied by artists such as Curro Romero, Pansequito, Juan Villar, Chiquetete, Pedro Bacán, Aurora Vargas, María Vargas, Manuela Carrasco, Cristina Hoyo, Vicente Soto Sordera, José el de la Tomasa, Nano de Jerez, Cancanilla de Málaga and many more, and received great reviews. That same year, he was awarded by the Nuevo Compás del Cante together with the great bailaora Manuela Carrasco.
Nowadays, the cantaor from Chiclana sings accompanied by his faithful guitarist Antonio Higuero and is considered as a great figure of pure flamenco, heir of the cantes de Cádiz and defender of the traditional cantes.
