TOM OLLENDORFF REVAMPS THE JAZZ GUITAR
*He presents his album “A Song for You” at the Jimmy Glass Festival.

The excellent British guitarist Tom Ollendorff makes his debut at the Jimmy Glass as part of the club’s 10th Contemporary Jazz Festival.
Sometimes, a musician emerges to reclaim the past of jazz guitar by returning to certain classical principles, readjusting the coordinates of the present in the process. This young musician is one of them, judging by his debut album, A Song for You, recently released by the Fresh Sounds label in its New Talent series.

Ollendorff’s sensitivity to space and nuance, and the expressive economy of his phrasing, are at times reminiscent of the work of the legendary and elegant Jim Hall. Ollendorfff makes no secret of his penchant for patiently telling a musical story with instrumental melodies that could just as easily be sung.

“Tom Ollendorff is one of the best guitarists in the world. His music is complex, but rooted in melody and feeling.”
