Valencia, July 10, 2025. – Seasonal Flavors Km0 El Corte Inglés presented, on this occasion, the Muchamiel Tomato, which will be the star until July 20 in the Cafeterias and GastroMercats of El Corte Inglés in the Valencian Community.

This highly prized, high-quality native variety, revived years ago, was awarded the Valencian Community Quality Mark distinction in 2022 by the Generalitat Valenciana. With fleshy, sweet, and tender flesh and a very pleasant texture, the Muchamiel tomato has an intense aroma and sweet flavour. Its thin skin allows it to be eaten raw without peeling, thus taking advantage of all its properties.

Valencian mullein, Alboraya tiger nut, Penjar d´Alcalá de Xivert tomato, Valencian Community citrus fruits, Vinalopó grapes, Ribera del Xúquer persimmon, El Toro black truffle, Benicarló artichoke, Callosa d´en Sarrià medlar, and now, Muchamiel tomato have participated in this promotion that aims to enhance our local products.

Chef David Gallego of the Garra restaurant in Alicante’s Central Market was responsible for creating the recipe for this dish using the product of the month: “Tuna Tartar Taco with Muchamiel Tomato,” which will be added to the gastronomic offerings of El Corte Inglés’ Cafeterias and GastroMercats in the Valencian Community, with a perfect pairing, in this case, with the Tarima Hill Blanco wine from Bodegas Volver.

In this way, El Corte Inglés Km 0 Seasonal Flavors, carried out in collaboration with the Inboga gastronomic program, celebrates this product, described as a “jewel of the Mediterranean.” In addition, El Corte Inglés supermarkets Federico Soto, Maisonnave, and Ciudad de Elche will be selling Muchamiel Tomatoes, a quality product, in their fruit and vegetable stores, for creating the most succulent recipes.

About Garra Restaurant

In the heart of Alicante’s Central Market, Garra dazzles with its Japanese-Mediterranean fusion cuisine. An intimate space, seating just eight, where every bite is a unique and unforgettable experience.

Garra is more than a restaurant; it’s an experience where the skill of its chef, David Gallego Gallego, unfolds before the eyes of diners. The layout of his small kitchen allows you to admire his precision in cutting fish, a fundamental aspect of his menu. As he explains, his menu is ” very fresh,” a statement that makes even more sense considering his wife owns a fishmonger in the same market.

One of the aspects David enjoys most about this format is the opportunity to observe diners’ reactions live as they try each dish. Seeing their expressions of surprise and pleasure is, he believes, the best way to measure the success of his cooking. It also allows him to interact with them, get their feedback, and share details about the preparation of each creation, creating a unique connection between chef and customers.
