‘TEODORA’ RESTAURANT: A NEW TAKE ON AN OLD FAVOURITE!

The partners that established one of most beloved restaurants, Timoteo, in Arrancapins, a residential neighborhood full of locals, are opening a new restaurant with similar themes in the iconic seaside district of El Canyamelar. Located on C/ Dr. Lluch (41) Teodora is open daily from 9:30 a.m. until midnight, and will also serve the traditional Valencian esmorzaret (mid-morning lunch). The hours can accommodate both hungry local neighborhood guests and tourists looking for a tried-and-true delicious restaurant concept. Rico, David, Pablo and Chimo, the partners at ‘Teodora’ are opening a new venture that combines all of the old favourite parts of their restaurant Timoteo with new Valencian creations such as titaina (a Spanish ratatouille) with a fried egg, along with a selection of Tapas and seafood dishes.

Because Timoteo is a neighborhood restaurant, the owners designed Teodora while keeping in mind the diversity of their new cliental in the seaside district of El Canyamelar. The reception in El Canyamelar, along though different from Arrancapins, has been very positive and warm. “We’re well aware that El Canyamelar is very different from Arrancapins, but the reception has been incredibly positive. From day one, we’ve felt that people have welcomed Teodora warmly,” says partner Fernando Rico. The warm welcome indicates that Teodora may go on to be just as beloved (if not more!) than its older sibling ‘Timoteo’. But what old delicious favourites will be returning?

  • Russian potato salad with chopped pickles
  • Ham and cured beef croquettes
  • Patatas bravas, voted Valencia’s Best Patatas Bravas for two consecutive years at the Bravas Fest.

The partners are bringing popular favourites to the new location but Seafood will also be playing a main role in the new restaurant with dishes like:

  • Octopus served over sweet potato sobrasada
  • Cod with tartare sauce
  • Tuna tiradito with cilantro and chili cream

Open from 9:30 a.m. until midnight, Teodora also features an extensive selection of molletes, including fillings such as:

  • Braised beef cheek with low-temperature egg yolk
  • Beef tenderloin with foie gras
  • Chicken tinga
  • The classic Almussafes sandwich

Many of these are also available as traditional bocadillos as part of the restaurant’s dedicated esmorzaret menu, served on weekdays for €10, including a sandwich, drink, and coffee. Quite the deal!

Teodora is intended to be a new take that celebrates the classic idea of a neighbourhood restaurant while serving dynamic and exciting new dishes that offer contemporary takes on local Valencian classics.

When ‘Teodora’ celebrated its opening about twenty local journalists and content creators were tasked with deciding what “Teodora’s Signature Tapas” would be and after intense rounds of sampling the finalists were:

  • Truffle egg pintxo
  • Tuna tiradito with cilantro and chili cream
  • Meatballs with sauce and crispy potato sticks
  • Titaina with fried egg and diced tuna

And the winners were……

  • Tuna tiradito with cilantro and chili cream (the press’s favorite)
  • Truffle egg pintxo (the social media creators’ favorite)

These dishes were chosen not only because of their tastiness but because they best represent Teodora.

Teodora’s location in El Canyamelar is currently undergoing a significant transformation into Valencia’s leading gastronomic destinations. The owners not only acknowledge this but are looking to be apart and add to the culinary scene in the area. For the owners, a lot of thought went into opening a new location, they wanted something new and inspired while also keeping the most beloved aspects of Timeoto. It was not an opening motivated by money but a genuine want to share their success with more of Valencia and its visitors. The new restaurant is adaptable, chic, and well-thought out, with an inspired menu that was crafted carefully to fit into the seafood district of El Canyamelar bringing the flavours that locals loved in Arrancapins too. Because if isn’t broke, don’t fix it!
