The bar located in the Ruzafa neighbourhood celebrates its anniversary with special promotions, snacks and a contest on social networks. Ruzanuvol is celebrating its anniversary, as this week it celebrates 15 years offering Italian craft beer and homemade tapas in the city of València, more specifically in the Ruzafa neighbourhood. They celebrated this date by programming their famous aperitifs on Saturday 26th April.
Since they opened their doors in April 2010, the bar run by the Milanese Bárbara Meloni and Giovanni Re has been committed to generating a different experience, both gastronomically and culturally. Despite being Italian, they have never offered pasta. Their menu has always focused on craft beer and tapas made on the spot with high quality Italian products. “We knew it was a daring proposal because habits are different here”, recalls Barbara, a partner in the project together with Giovanni and Davide Sangiorgi, who has been part of it since Milan days.
What’s new
On the occasion of the anniversary, this Saturday Ruzanuvol returned to its origins with the famous aperitifs. The bar offered promotions such as two pints and an aperitif at a special price. As a novelty, they will be launching a new draught beer: the Opora, a Hazy IPA from Birrificio Lambrate, cloudy and with fruity notes of peach and mango. In the coming weeks, loyal customers will be able to design their own piadina. Through social networks, Ruzanuvol will open a competition for anyone who wants to send in their ideal recipe for this typical dish. One of them will be chosen to form part of the off-menu dishes available at the restaurant. This competition will be followed by a raffle among its followers.
However, the essence of Ruzanuvol has remained practically intact since its beginnings. They are the first and only brewery in Spain to serve unpasteurised craft beer on tap from Birrificio Lambrate and Birrificio Italiano, two of the oldest and most highly rated Italian craft beer producers. They have 5 taps, corresponding to the 5 most popular styles of beer: one for lager (Lager or Pilsner), one for the reddest beer (Bock), one for IPA, one for black beer (Black IPA) and a last surprise tap in which different styles, sometimes more peculiar, such as Sour or Weizen, are served. They are served at a temperature ranging from 4 to 10 degrees. “We try to keep changing because no beer is the same and at Birrificio Lambrate and Birrificio Italiano they produce many styles,” adds Giovanni. At the same time, they have beers in bottles and also in cans, such as Robb de Matt (Rye IPA style), Gaina (India Pale Ale style) or Tiramisú Imperial Stout (Imperial Pastry Stout).
The liquid part is complemented with an informal gastronomic proposal of Mediterranean tapas, made with food from the Mercat de Russafa -very close to the restaurant-, or with Protected Designation of Origin from some corner of Italy. “We never wanted to take away the value of the beer, which is our main ingredient, and that’s why we went for this type of dishes that are more of an accompaniment”, explains Bárbara. Among their most popular dishes…
🍴 As starters, the Russian salad with piparras, black salt and lime zest, and the Bravissima, patatas bravas with two sauces, one of them spicy. Both recipes are homemade.
🍴 The three-height pastrami sandwich, with 180 g of meat, mustard and pickled gherkins. All sandwiched between artisan bread.
🍴 And the piadina with porchetta – traditional Italian sausage -, scamorza cheese, tomato, lettuce and pink sauce. An option to share.
A simple cuisine, which respects Italian tradition and in which pasta has never been the protagonist. Neither has coffee, which is not served with dessert. “We decided to go for a product that we love and that we know very well”, says Giovanni. They also stand out for their off-menu dishes, such as the artichoke dish that they serve on Friday and Saturday nights.
