VALENCIA CRAFT BEER FOR WORLD PAELLA DAY ON SEPTEMBER 20

##Local cerevezas will be represented at ‘La Marineta’ in Valencia on 20th September via “Valencian Craft Beer®”.

Getting to know the best paella is one of the main attractions of the World Paella Day to be held at La Marina de València on 20 September. Bierwinkel’s mission will be to highlight the value of Valencian craft beers. With its “Valencian Craft Beer®” concept, Bierwinkel will show that although paella was created here, pairing it with Valencian craft beers is becoming more and more essential.

Valencian Craft Beer® is the brand created by Bierwinkel to promote Valencian beer, which it presented three years ago together with the Valencian Community Craft Centre and its craft product certificate recognised by the Generalitat Valenciana, which guarantees that its brewing process is 100% artisan and Valencian. Promoted by Bierwinkel, the breweries Alegría, Birra & Blues, Tyris and Zeta Beer, will be present at the World Paella Day.

Alegría was born in Massanassa in 2014 with a different approach by offering, in addition, direct sales in its Tap Room, where they pair their beers with delicious local beef burgers fed in part with their bagasse. All their beers are gluten free and on the 20th they will recommend pairing their Alegría del Sur beer with paella.

B&B will be previewing their 10th anniversary bottled beer on Friday 17 September. It is a Cold Ipa called Gloria, which has the particularity that it is brewed with J. Sendra rice with D.O. from the Albufera. In addition, this style is characterised by being made with a lager yeast instead of the traditional Ale of the Ipas and has 7.3% alcohol and a dry hop of 15 g/litre with the ElDorado and Idaho 7 hop varieties, which give it a particularly citric character as well as the bitterness typical of IPAs. They recommend pairing it with arroz a banda.

Tyris, which this year celebrates its 12th anniversary and is becoming more and more well-known as it is already sold in most supermarkets, is committed to the gastronomy of the region and to a constant pairing of its beers with our rice dishes, recommending Tyris Lager for vegetable rice and Tyris Original for rice with fish.

Zeta Beer, founded in 2013 and with 8 years of experience behind it, was born from the passion of two young Valencian engineers. With a strong commitment to low-fermentation styles (lager), they soon began to stand out for the high quality and differentiation, especially of this type of beer in their portfolio. Today they have more than 20 different beers covering the whole spectrum of categories and a line of trend-setting ultra-light styles. They are the total brewer. And to pair with the cuttlefish and garlic paella, they recommend the Suc, Taronja Weisse style.

On 20 September, 10 chefs from different parts of the world will compete live in La Marina de València, specifically in La Marineta. The semi-finals will start at 10 am and at 12:15 pm the Grand Final will be held to find out which chef is the best at cooking paella. And all of them, Javier Piñeiro, from Uruguay, Sang-hoon, from South Korea, Vicente Aguilar, from Costa Rica, Rob Curley, from Ireland, Alfredo Aramburu, from Peru, Binhui Jiangm from China, Natalie Curie, from United States, Sam Giansante, from Belgium, Noelia Pascual, from Spain and Josef Kolarík, from Czech Republic, together with all their companions, will also know the quality of a significant sample of the craft beers produced in Valencia thanks to Valencian Craft Beer®.

In 2002 Bierwinkel created its own Finest Beers Selection, joining forces, knowledge and guarantees of expansion with the Belgian brewery John Martin, SA. In 2010, the German brewery Dinkelacker, Sanwald and the Belgian breweries Huyghe, Bosteels and Belgoo Beer joined forces, followed a few years later by the breweries Het Anker and Chimay in order to consolidate and expand this unique and select joint venture brewery for Spain. They are also working intensively on the introduction and marketing of craft beers from the Valencian Community. A good example has been the development and implementation of the Valencian Craft Beer® concept.
