SEDAJAZZ RECORDS: MIQUEL ASENSIO’s second album as a leader is an inspired work with original compositions, new colours and musical textures from the purest jazz to other concepts… with a free and organic approach.

24/7 VALENCIA: Who are the musicians that feature on the tracks?

Javier Vercher: saxophones, clarinet, flute.
Iván “Melón” Lewis: piano
Pablo Martín Caminero: double bass
Elma Sambeat: voice
Carlos Martín: percussion
Miquel Asensio: drums and composition

For this album, Asensio has counted on excellent musicians, a superb group that brings together the greats of the national and international scene.

Miquel Asensio, currently living in Madrid, obtained the Superior Title of Jazz by the Conservatory of Valencia in 2012 and did his studies via Erasmus at the Royal Music School in Stockholm in 2011. He plays regularly in the most prestigious groups of the Valencian Community: Perico Sambeat Plays Zappa, Sedajazz Big Band, Ramón Cardo Quartet, Greg Hopkins Sextet, or Carlos Martín Sextet, among others.

Likewise, the drummer collaborates with other great musicians such as Perico Sambeat, Javier Vercher, Iván “Melón Lewis, Mariano Díaz, Jorge Rossy, Voro García, , David Pastor, Pablo Martín Caminero, Albert Sanz, Luis Guerra, Ariel Bringuez , Alberto Palau , Bob Sands , Román Filiu, Gabriel Peso among others. He has participated With Jimmy Glass Festival’s own productions: The Black Saint & The Sinner Lady (2013), the Electric Bath Ensemble / Don Ellis: The Trip of the Sixties (2014) and the Hot Rats Ensemble / Frank Zappa’s Alchemy (2015).

‘Biotza’ is a distinctive album, attractive and modern and with large doses of creativity.
