AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER ENRIQUE BORREDÁ PUYO (EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGAPHIC REPORT)

Enrique Borredá Puyo was born on February 10, 1921 in Aiacor, a district of Canals, Valencia. After the war and the subsequent military service required for being on the “losing” side, he passed the civil service exams and joined the National Institute of Statistics. He moved to Valencia, already married to Marita López Viñals, with whom he has a daughter and a son. In the mid-1950s, he discovered his passion for photography and bought his first camera, an excellent Rolleiflex. With it, he took his first steps as an amateur photographer. He also set up his own studio in his home to develop everything he photographed.

He joined the Valencia Photo Club (1) in the late 1950s and became its president for several years, promoting local, national, and international competitions. He earned the FIAP distinction (2) by participating in and winning several international amateur photography competitions.

In the early 1970s, he bought two identical cameras with which he took numerous photographs. At that time, ASAHI PENTAX cameras were considered among the top brands. He also expanded his photography arsenal with telephoto lenses of various magnifications, which allowed him to continue improving his technique, although he never forgot his Rolleiflex.

His son Enrique tells us that he has more than 5,000 negatives of his father’s photographs, apart from the developed ones, many of which have the title of the photograph, the date and the competition or exhibition in which it was presented.

Don Enrique Borredá Puyo passed away at his home in Xátiva on August 2, 2005, at the age of 84. Here remains a sample of the artistry and artistic quality of his photographs.
