Will McCarthy presents his exhibition “Moments” at Las Cervezas del Mercado de Colón, reflecting his life in Valencia over the last quarter-century

“Moments” is the title of the photography exhibition that has opened at ‘Las Cervezas del Mercado de Colón’, featuring Will McCarthy, an English expat who, after living in Valencia for 30 years, has gathered his perspective of the city of the Turia in a single showcase. McCarthy is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the magazine ’24/7 Valencia’, an online publication for English speakers of which he is the editor and photographer. At the opening, attendees enjoyed a concert by the live band ‘Midnight Train Trio’, composed of Will himself on guitar and vocals, alongside Stefano Cecchi on trumpet, and Rafa Arriaza on flute and bass.

The exhibition brings together 25 photographs, each capturing a unique and unrepeatable moment in the life of “one of the most vibrant cities in Europe,” according to the author. From unforgettable football scenes at Mestalla to intimate portraits of local musicians, striking examples of Valencia’s street art, the colorful Fallas celebrations, and deeply rooted religious festivities, the exhibition reflects a quarter-century dedicated to documenting the city’s extraordinary cultural life. You can visit the exhibtion until Ocotber 2026.

The concept behind the exhibition is deliberately simple and symbolic: 25 photographs celebrating 25 years of ’24/7 Valencia’. Rather than carefully staged images, “Moments” is a collection of spontaneous snapshots that celebrate the energy, warmth, and authenticity of Valencia. They capture those fleeting instants that often go unnoticed—a smile, a celebration, a gesture, a performance, an unexpected encounter—revealing why Valencia is widely considered one of the most livable and culturally rich cities in the Mediterranean.
“Sometimes, the most memorable photographs aren’t planned; they simply happen. They capture a moment that will never exist again. This exhibition is my celebration of those moments, and of the extraordinary city that has inspired me for the last 25 years,” explains Will McCarthy.

Having lived in Valencia since 1995, Will McCarthy has spent more than three decades exploring the city’s streets, festivals, concerts, sporting events, and neighborhoods. Through his work as editor of ’24/7 Valencia’, he has interviewed hundreds of artists, musicians, chefs, writers, sports personalities, and cultural figures, all while documenting the city’s constantly evolving identity.
The exhibition is as much a personal retrospective as it is a tribute to Valencia itself: a city where life is lived outdoors, traditions remain vibrant, and memorable moments unfold every single day.
To inaugurate the exhibition, Will McCarthy—who is also a guitarist, singer, and songwriter—performed an acoustic set at the opening, adding a musical dimension to an evening celebrating 25 years of Valencian journalism, photography, and culture.

Las Cervezas Del Mercado is a beer bar and gourmet tapas spot in the atmospheric Mercado de Colón, one of Valencia’s most beautiful Modernist buildings. It specialises in craft beer, with 16 taps and more than 150 Valencian and international beers, alongside quality tapas and dishes made with ingredients sourced from the market itself. It is a relaxed, lively place for beer lovers and foodies, and also hosts tastings, art exhibitions and other events.
