On the evening of Tuesday, March 3rd, artists and friends from all over Valencia met to admire the work of photographer Phil Solomonson, also known as ‘Philamonjaro’. This is a collection of photos that comes as a result of years of experience with fire, a work of art you will want to see. The event was held at Bruno’s Lucky 13 in Montolivete and began at 7 in the evening. The venue was a perfect escape from the grey weather, comfortable and warm, only made brighter by the photo prints hung all around.

From the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, to the streets of Valencia, Philamonjaro has seen and photographed fire in Chicago, Burning Man and Valencia. What started with being born a Leo zodiac (a fire sign of course), became his attendance at the Burning Man music festival over 15 times, and eventual move to València, having one of the largest fire festivals in the world. If fire is the topic, Phil knows his element, and photographs it powerfully.

But why fire, are other elements not exciting enough, if not more? Throughout his exposure to the element, Phil has developed an abundance of reasons for finding fire ever-fascinating. Firstly, it is dangerous. While it can steal your oxygen in a second, or burn everything you love, it’s simultaneously one of the most enchanting creations in the world.
