Dulce Pontes opens the cycle ‘Les Arts és Altres Músiques’.

Dulce Pontes will be the artist in charge of inaugurating the ‘Les Arts és Altres Músiques’ (The Arts is Other Music) cycle on the 23rd of October at 9:00 pm in the Auditori, with which the cultural centre opens its spaces and its programme to new audiences and sonorities thanks to the main stars of the moment.
The Portuguese diva, an essential voice of Portuguese music and an indisputable figure in global music, visits Valencia with her most recent artistic proposal ‘Fascinação Tour’, which she dedicates to some of her main musical references.
In this new show, the composer and performer of ‘Canção do Mar’ pays tribute to three of the artists who have most influenced her 30-year successful career: Elis Regina, one of the great icons of Brazilian popular music; the Portuguese Amália Rodrigues, queen of fado and universal ambassador of this genre; along with the Italian composer Ennio Morricone, teacher, mentor and, above all, friend of the artist.
In her performance at Les Arts, Dulce Pontes will be accompanied by three instrumentalists with international careers: the Cuban Yelsy Heredia, considered the best double bass player of his generation and a regular collaborator of Chucho Valdés; Luis Guerreiro, recognised as one of the most prestigious Portuguese guitarists; and the pianist, also Cuban, Sergio Fernández.
Tickets for Dulce Pontes’ concert this coming Saturday, 23rd October, at 21.00 hours, in the Auditori are priced between 28 and 40 euros.
Les Arts és Altres Músiques’ (The Arts is Other Music)
The cycle ‘Les Arts és Altres Músiques’ will continue throughout the season, giving its space to musical genres and styles that have not been present in the programme to date.
On the 21st of November, the fascinating Ute Lemper will bring back the spirit of the Berlin cabaret of the 1920s and 1930s accompanied by an instrumental group, with a repertoire that, for the first time, finds its place in Les Arts.
In the section dedicated to jazz, the Auditori de Les Arts will host the visit of a living legend, the American guitarist Pat Metheny, with more than forty years of live performances, an immeasurable recording legacy and twenty Grammy awards to his credit, on 22nd June.
