Ever wonder where the best place to live would be when you retire? Many places may spring to mind, but it is curious to know which is the most popular destination that Brits can envision spending their retired lives in.
According to a study recently conducted by Retirement Solutions, who provide advice on equity release, Spain is the most googled country to retire abroad to, with an average monthly volume of 1050 people searching for terms relating to retiring abroad. This is not surprising as there are ample beautiful sunny destinations in Spain to retire to; with a better cost of living, a more relaxed lifestyle, and more than double the hours of sunshine annually than in the UK, it’s an easy decision to make.
Australia comes in second with its generally warm climate and stunning expansive scenery, whilst Portugal comes in third with its paradisiacal beaches – in the Algarve notably. Most people, having reached retirement age, may not have travelled as much as they would have hoped during their lifetime, regrettably. Therefore, it is expected that Brits have this urge to move abroad and explore a newfound experience in quest of a happier life.
