‘LA PICAETA’ ARRIVES IN ALGIRÓS TO AFFIRM THAT THE BARRIO BEGINS WITH A BAR!

Los Gómez’s most informal and approachable concept opens its third location in Valencia, aiming to promote a little-known and yet-to-be-discovered neighbourhood, with an informal gastronomic offer of Mediterranean tapas! The new space, located at Calle Ramón de Campoamor, 19, has a large terrace in a pedestrian zone and maintains its continuous kitchen service, from 12 PM to 12 AM, every day of the week. At ‘La Picaeta’, they are clear that the barrio begins with bar. This idea is what determines the course of its third location, which has just opened its doors.

La Picaeta arrives in Algirós—specifically at Calle Ramón de Campoamor, 19—, a stone’s throw from Blasco Ibañez and Plaza del Cedro. The new location seeks to add a new colour to a neighbourhood that is perhaps little known and with the intention of being its nerve centre. In fact, some residents already feel at home on the extensive terrace, located on a pedestrian street. We are looking at the third space of this concept driven by ‘Grupo Los Gómez’, focused on tapas, portions, and dishes to share in a more informal way. La Picaeta in Orriols and Tarongers has laid the foundation for a concept that is now taking a step further. In this way, La Picaeta lands in Algirós with a carefully thought-out proposal, even more so than the previous locations, to integrate into the daily rhythm of the neighbourhood. It aspires to become a bar to go down to at any time of the day, whether to have a drink or share tapas, without the need for a special occasion.

The gastronomic proposal is based on traditional cuisine, without filters. Among its most outstanding dishes are patatas bravas, torreznos from Soria, and Los Gómez’s Russian salad, along with more local preparations such as fried egg with titaina from Cabanyal, chivito, baked rice, or cuttlefish noodle paella. This offer is complemented by the daily menu for €19.90 and a half menu for €14.90, as well as group menus. The restaurant maintains its continuous kitchen service every day of the week, from Monday to Sunday, from 12 PM to 12 AM, which allows it to adapt to different times of consumption.

La Picaeta’s daily menu consists of starters and some proposals such as baked rice. Toni Carceller, marketing director of Grupo Los Gómez, frames this opening within the growth of ‘La Picaeta’ in the city: a concept that has been gaining weight thanks to the good response from the public since its first locations. In this sense, he explains that it is a format very linked to day-to-day life, designed for that moment when you simply feel like going down to the bar, without complications. “With this third Picaeta, we continue to get closer to the neighborhoods of Valencia from a clear proposal, based on closeness and a very recognizable way of understanding hospitality. It is a concept that works because it responds to what people are looking for: a place to be able to go at any time, whether to eat, have a snack, or extend the after-dinner conversation,” he says.

In addition, Carceller insists on the importance of each location fitting naturally into its environment: “We are interested in being part of the neighborhood, not just being in it. That people

incorporate it into their routine, that they return and that they feel it as their bar.”

In this way, the opening of Algirós is part of the evolution of ‘La Picaeta’ as a concept, which seeks to reinterpret the neighbourhood bar from a current perspective, maintaining the essence of traditional cuisine in a more flexible and approachable format.

Within the ecosystem of the renowned gastronomic group Los Gómez, La Picaeta is, of all the proposals, the most informal and approachable. This concept was born in 2019 as an evolution of the group’s proposal towards a different and neighbourhood model, which has been consolidating in the city with locations in Orriols and Tarongers, and now adds its third opening in Algirós. Los Gómez, with more than 35 years of experience, has positioned itself as one of the references in Valencian hospitality, with different concepts that range from more gastronomic proposals such as Puerta del Mar, Los Gómez Taberna and even more informal formats such as Gran Mercat or the aforementioned Picaeta.

In short, La Picaeta starts from a very specific idea: to recover the traditional bar from a current perspective. A close and recognizable space, designed for day-to-day life, where what matters is not only what you eat, but the fact of meeting, sharing, and feeling comfortable in the neighborhood. This is how ‘La Picaeta’ arrives in Algirós, to continue demonstrating that every neighbourhood starts with a bar.
