Real Club Náutico Torrevieja and Real Club Náutico de València triumph in the IV Regatta of the Mediterranean Fixed Bench League

##The IV Regatta of the Liga Banco Fijo del Mediterráneo organised by the Federación de Remo de la Comunitat Valenciana was held last Sunday 28th March in Valencia, with the competition of senior and veteran races. From 9:30h in the morning, athletes from twelve different clubs from the Valencian coast gathered at the facilities of La Marina de Valencia to offer a great rowing show. The boats covered a distance of 5,000 metres in the traditional Falucho Llaüt Valencià in an event organised by the Club de Remo Ciudad de València, in collaboration with the Federation.

In the women’s veterans’ race, Real Club Náutico Torrevieja won the third consecutive victory and consolidates its position in the first position of the general classification. They were followed on the podium by the teams of Club Rem Denia, who have been second in the three regattas of their category so far, and Club Náutico Altea. The fight for third place was very close, as the Altea boat was only 77 hundredths of a second ahead of Club Náutico Santa Pola. The double for the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja was completed by the men’s veteran team, who finished the race in first position and thus repeated the victory achieved the previous week in Calpe. Like their teammates, they lead the League. Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca and Club Rem Denia finished second and third respectively.

The absolute category also had a name of its own, that of the Real Club Náutico de València, which won both races. The women stopped the clock in 27 minutes and 4 seconds, with a comfortable lead over their pursuers. The excitement was reserved for the dispute for the second position. Between Real Club Náutico Gandía, second, and Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant, third; there was a difference of less than two seconds. The Valencian boat dominated the men’s race with a time of 24 minutes and 25 seconds, five ahead of Real Club Náutico Denia, who came second. The order was reversed with respect to the previous event in Calpe, where the Dianes won due to a penalty imposed on their rival at the start. Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant repeated in third position, as in the women’s category.

The Liga Banco Fijo del Mediterráneo of the Federación de Remo de la Comunitat Valenciana will rest next weekend and will gather strength for the V Regatta, which will take place the weekend of 10 and 11 April in Benidorm.
