Last Saturday, 11th of November, Gandía served as the scenery for the Yola A4+ Regional Championship, organised by the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community, with the support of SUMA Tax Administration. Around 140 athletes met at the Real Club Náutico Gandía to participate in a regatta that resulted in a notorious success. The weather conditions were perfect and helped the development of a rowing modality where 4 athletes and a helmsperson participate in each boat.

The children category was the first to row in a journey of 500 metres, with one turning. The modality is perfect for children to initiate into competitions. In Gandía, the regatta took place inside of the port, which helped the navigation. Both the mixed and feminine teams of Real Club Náutico Calpe completed the event.

For the rest of the categories, the journey increased up to a thousand metres, with three turnings. The Real Club Regatas Alicante dominated each one of the races, winning both in masculine and feminine categories.

The silver medals were shared among representatives of Club Náutico Alicante Costa Blanca, Real Club Náutico Gandía, Real Club Náutico Calpe and Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant. The clubs from Gandía and Calpe also won two bronze medals, one each. In addition to winning 6 races, Real Club Regatas Alicante took the second position in the podium, given that in some races they competed with more than one team.

The next meeting for the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community is set for next Sunday 19th of November in Benidorm, where the IV Challenge ‘100 Caring Words against Breast Cancer’ will be held. The clubs are already preparing a new season of the League SUMA Banco Fijo del Mediterráneo, which will begin on the 26th of November in Valencia.
