‘SAN BLAS MARKET’ IN RUZAFA ON FEBRUARY 4TH -6TH (VALENCIA)

#Struggling for plans this weekend? Say no more! This coming weekend, between the 4th and 6th of February, the San Blas market will be filling the streets of the Ruzafa. This is one of the hippest barrios of Valencia but it still visibly maintains its traditions of the past. ‘San Blas’ is the patron saint of the area and is celebrated on a yearly basis in the heart of the Ruzafa, on the streets between the Ruzafa market and the church of San Valero.

Besides being the patron of the fashionable neighbourhood, San Blas is also the saint of laryngology and throat disease. Therefore, the market usually has elements to represent that aspect of the saint, such as blessed water or oils to cure sore throats.

At the market you can find anything your heart desires, there will be over 30 different stalls with artisans and merchants selling a variety of products, such as; natural cosmetics, jewellery, food, and Arabic goods.

There will also be entertainment, in fact, Espectáculos A.M.B Producciones will be providing the event with animations. On Saturday, there will be small plays for everyone to enjoy, and for those with a more acquired taste, there will be a wine tasting (so you better start preparing now)!

However, there is much more to Ruzafa than this annual market. It is an area with beautiful architecture, many hipster cafés and an attractive selection of ‘vintage’ clothes stores. So, you don’t need solid plans to enjoy your time in the famous barrio.
