THE INTER-COMPANY REGATTA FOR EQUALITY WILL BE HELD ON 19 MAY IN VALENCIA

The only regatta in Spain with CSR content, in which the participants have no previous experience as sailors, which promotes equality by being mixed teams and which is also charitable, as the profits go to projects for women at risk of exclusion of the Red Cross. It will be presented in the Marina of Valencia, on the America’s Cup race course. The event will take place on 19 May.

This event that unites sport, business, solidarity and equality is organised by Corporate YACHTING & Partners, and is open to both SMEs and large companies. The only requirement is that the crews, made up of employees or clients, must be mixed or 100% female. To date, Carrefour, Crédito y Caución, the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, Kreab, Invest and Valencia Premium have confirmed their participation.  Last year’s edition was attended by more than 400 participants, from 12 companies from different sectors.

José Alfredo López, founder and CEO of Corporate YACHTING, recalls from the last edition “the great interest shown by the crew members, most of them newcomers, who found in this activity not only a meeting point to strengthen ties within their companies, but also an opportunity to make themselves heard on such an important issue as equality between women and men”.

In addition, the participants receive Team Building training for the development of Soft Skills that improve Leadership, team development and change management.

Javier de Andrés, manager of Veles e Vents and director of Grupo La Sucursal, as a partner of this initiative, highlights that “The regatta for equality is an opportunity to make visible the magnificent conditions offered by the Marina de València for the development of nautical events. Enjoying one of the best regatta courses in our country is the perfect excuse to promote the work of egalitarian and inclusive teams. From the collective effort we understand the need to combine strategy and tactics to take advantage of the wind in our favour”. These facilities are also valued by Evarist Caselles, assistant general manager of Consorcio Valencia 2007. José Manuel Guzmán, captain of the Cervantes Saavedra, the boat that will house the judges of the regatta and which hosted the protagonists of the series “El Barco”, considers that it is essential to support a project of this type, as the sea is linked to equality and solidarity.

For Juan José Collado, provincial president of the Red Cross in Valencia, “this initiative allows us to promote women’s projects. Our intervention is oriented towards the empowerment and specialised accompaniment of women, and the dynamisation of social co-responsibility in the community environment, in favour of gender equality and the fight against different forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls”.

This initiative is also valid within the Equality Plan for companies and for inclusion in company training projects, and is eligible for up to 25% of FUNDAE training credits. Once the Solidarity Regatta is over, all registered companies will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare and will become part of the Diversity Charter.

How to participate

Companies such as Carrefour, Toyota, Dormitienda, Royo Group, Bayer, Teleperformance, CGI, RIA Financial, Acesur and Santa Lucía have participated in previous editions of the Solidarity Regatta. The solidarity action aims to be an affordable event within the reach of all types of companies. In addition, participants do not need to have any previous sailing knowledge or experience. Those companies that join the initiative will be able to do so in teams of eight people, as long as they are made up of mixed or 100% female crews. They will have their own boat with an instructor, technical training – they will first complete a training and safety module to acquire the necessary knowledge – and team coaching, full board and a certificate of attendance.

The registration period for the IV Solidarity Regatta for Equality between Women and Men is now open and can be done through info@corporateyachting.es, or by calling 963 301 303.
